Wow! What a tournament!! I can't believe how much of a success the first ever Autumn Cup turned out to be. I had the whacky idea for this tournament back in July and brought it up to the Fernando Foundation and the USPSA just to see if they would be interested in putting together a tournament that was hosted at an expo. Everyone seemed to like it, so Jessi presented it to the WCD Expo organizers and they also loved the idea. We thought it would be a good way for us to broaden the exposure of Power Soccer in a cost-effective way and the WCD Expo saw it as a way to bring additional traffic to their expo. It would be a potential win, win for everyone.
After getting the official go-ahead from the WCD Expo executives, everyone from the USPSA on the east coast worked together to organize and host the tournament. It was an awesome collaboration on many levels. Many thanks to David, Karen, Jessi, Chris, Megan, and many others for working so well together to make this tournament such an awesome display of power soccer and the USPSA. The WCD Expo organizers, exhibitors, and attendees were extremely impressed and want to make the tournament even bigger and better next year (with more courts, teams, publicity, etc.).
As for the competition itself, you could not have asked for more exciting, nail-biting games. The tournament showcased 3 new division 1 teams (Tampa Bay Crossfire and 2 teams that had players new to division 1 competition - Tidewater Piranhas & CNY PS Flyers), the 2 top teams in the country (Circle City & Atlanta), and the always awesome Indiana Sudden Impact. Nearly every game carried a 1 goal margin with heart-pounding, last second finishes. I am not going to spoil the outcome of the games or the tournament for those that want to enjoy the complete coverage on xAble.com (with play-by-play and color commentary).
On a personal note, I would like to say I am very proud of my Crossfire team and their performance at the Autumn Cup. They gave it everything they had and surprised alot of people. With 2 out of the 5 players never having played a real game before and 2 of the other players never playing a full 40-minute game before, they had a huge challenge placed in front of them and they handled it wonderfully. I am so proud of all of my players and proud to be a part of this Crossfire team.
Ok, that's it for now. Be sure to check out all of the videos from the Autumn Cup on xAble.com! Over and out...

It was a lot of fun to be at the games! WCD Expo was a great place to host a tournament, it definitely created much buzz around the place. And the cup attracted some of the best players in the world, which were really fun to see.
