Description:
Hi Im Kristin. Some things about me is that I swim and stay active while having a physical limitation. This is some what unheard of for those people who are not disabled with the stereotype that if you have a physical limitation then you cannot be good at a sport or physically strong, especially if you're like me with Muscular Dystrophy, FSHD. I believe that this stereotype will soon be broken with amazing and inspiring people with a physical limitation but do what they love, showing to the world that you can achieve anything when you put your mind to it. And thats why I believe in the Paralympics and that more people should know about it. I was an avid swimmer until I became weak and couldnt swim as fast as able bodies can, so I sadly stopped, thinking that I was too weak and that was the end for me and any sport. See, I didn't know about the Paralympics until I decided not to give up my swimming dreams 5 years after I was forced to quit. Being involved in a sport is like no other and I believe that every person should have the opportunity to play a sport and know that they could compete against people with the same physical bodies, or close to it. Now that I know about the Paralympic Division I now feel like I actually have a chance to win gold and to actually be known as an athlete, something that I've dreamed of since I was 7 and still do to this day but actually believe that it is possible thanks to the Paralympics.

You're right, there's not enough knowledge or media coverage of the Paralympics. It's part of our mission at xAble to change this and help provide greater media coverage of great things that happen in the disability community. Let us know how your practicing progresses and good luck!
