We all encounter different areas of our life that require advocacy. For us to get what we want, need, and deserve, it's often necessary that we TAKE ACTION and do something about the injustice that we see. In this club, we'll share personal stories of struggle and success. It will also serve as a headquarters for a variety of resources-direct others to helpful blogs, share templates/petitions that others can use to join your cause, and even print out cards that you can leave on cars that park in accessible parking illegally. There's an ocean of resources for people with disabilities but it takes other community members to point us in the right direction and openly share which routes have been most successful for others.
If you have a concern about how to approach a certain area of advocacy, ask!
If you'd like to share a story of victory or a learning experience related to advocating for your needs, share it!
If you're frustrated about an injustice in your life, vent about it!

My current advocacy concerns are related to companies and employees of companies actually accommodating a disabled person. I have done a lot of requesting for accommodations in the past and I know the proper way to ask, but at best I get an accommodation by accident. Management didn't know they were actually accommodating me. When management or employees learn that they accidentally accommodated me, some of them have gone out their way to eliminate the few accommodations I thought I had. Some of the big accommodations that are related to life and death issues were refused or ignored. When trying to see if the grass was greener at other companies, I talked to several local HR directors off the record. I was informed that they would not hire someone with disabilities like mine, so there was no point in worrying about getting accommodations. Due to this, I will be working from home, but I find it offensive to be forced out of the industry due to the unwillingness of companies to even consider accommodations.
