Overview: I am an American Indian with MMD and am looking for anyone to talk to about anything that interestes both of us and would like some stories about what is you r MD and how do you deal with it.

Disability Type: Neurological
Disability Name: Myotonic Dystrophy
Disability Description: Nuro muscle disease.
It eats away at the small muscle groups first and when they are gone it starts with the large muscle groups. Some have muscle weakness which I have and a little breathing problems especially on smoggy days. I use a scooter for distances and get around a little can walk for about 25 yards or so.
Assistive Technology: Scooter
Medications: Ultram ER, propoxy N/APAP, cyclobenzaprine

How has your disability changed your life...for better or worse?: It changed for the worse I used to be very activite and used to play alot of different sports and I can't do that anymore...I guess you can adap a sport but it hard to change sometthing that you have to run or stand.
How have you overcome obstacles?: I have to dowhat I can. Would like to know what other people do to overcome everyday problems.
What is your most embarrassing moment?: When i was swimming the other day and when I got out of the water my trunks didn't get out with me. i just put my towel around me and my friend went and got my trunks out of the water for me.
What is your most triumphant moment?: I would have to say finishing college I finished top 5 percent and Deans list.
What are your dreams...for yourself and your peers?: To find a cure for all these MD's and helping all that have these.
