How has your disability changed your life...for better or worse?: I was born with my disability, so I don't know any other way. It's my way of life. I think my disability has enriched my life. I get to meet so many people that have effected my life in many ways.
How have you overcome obstacles?: Absolutely! All the time. I try not to let anything hold me back! Probably my most recent and current obstacle is that I moved out to Arizona on my own to go to school and I will graduate with a BA in Human and Family Development. To me, this is a huge deal because before I moved out here from California, I lived with my family and basically depended on others to help me with everything as far as personal care. God has blessed me to where I don't need any help and figured out how to do everything independently.
Even though I don't need assistance with personal care, I think my biggest obstacle I have had to overcome is the fact that I can't do everything like the average able bodied person and it is okay to ask for help when needed.

Overview: Hello, I'm Christina! It is difficult to tell you a little about myself in a nutshell when you have, limited space. I think that it takes a lifetime to get to know a person. I'll try to give you the basics and what I'm looking for...

Me:

I am currently a student at ASU and hope to graduate in December 2007, getting my Bachelor's degree in Family and Human Development. I also currently work at a before and after school program for K-5 graders. It ia a very fun and rewarding to get paid to play with children. I am very compassionate towards others, a great listener, love people and learn about their perception on life and how they get through life. I think that we all have something to learn from all we encounter...short or long term. I love to learn about other peoples cultures.

One major hobby that I picked up about 3 and a half years ago is a sport called Power Wheelchair Soccer. So, I know what your thinking...what? Crazy right...that was my thinking when I heard about it. But life is an adventure and I'll try anything once. I can't tell you what an exciting sport, I have ever been involved with. I'm not really an aggressive person, but on the court you kind of have to be. I guess it comes with the environment seeing that I am only one of two girls on my team...If you'd like to learn more about power soccer, just let me know.

I don't want to preach to the choir and by no means do I want to make anyone uncomfortable, but I will tell you that my faith in God is very strong and it literally defines me and how I live my life. By no means do I go around preaching in the streets, but I have very strong Catholic values and try to live my life according to His will for me. I love to serve others by just being there for others when they need prayer or just to be reminded of God's love and mercy for them.

Him:

I am looking for a man who is strong in their faith and what they believe in. One who is confident with himself that he would not let others waiver his love and faithfulness to God, including his partner. He would have to believe that a relationship is of three persons: He, I, and God as the centerpoint and driving force of the life-giving relationship. He is respctful, compassionate, hospitable, joyful, honest, patient, chivalrist, a leader and a follower (depending on the situation), dependable, a lover to all he encounters. I t would also be great if he had a sense of humor and is adventurous and is open to trying new things.

I am very close to my family and they are very important to me. Although they live al over the country, we are very close. He would have to be a familiy guy. To be open to a future family of our own as well as close relationships with our current families. I do realize that there are many familiy issues that exist and can't be helped at times, just as long as we attempt to have positive family relationships is important.

I believe that a relationship is always a give and take compromising partnership where they take turns equally being the strength for the other when they are weak. Everyone needs to feel and deserves to be appreciated and loved genuinely and unconditionally. This needs to be demonstrated by frequent communication through phone calls, emails, quality time. I want to feel pursued, I don't want to feel that I am the pursuer. If for whatever reason during the relationship, you are not happy with how things are, I would expect you to communicate that to me, as I will do the same.

I do realize that there is much here to swallow and congratulations if you've read all of this! Whether my future spouse is on this site or more great friends, we won't know until someone takes the first step...I'd love to hear from you! God bless you and your search!
