Overview:
I am a 35 year old SWM living in NJ. I was born with Spina Bifida. I am a college graduate and currently own my own company dealing with emergency management/emergency preparedness with a focus on people with disabilities.
I really enjoy both watching and participating in sports. When I was younger I played wheelchair basketball, tennis, and ran track and field. I've also swam and weight lifted non-competatively.

Disability Description: I am paralyzed from my lower hips down. I use a wheelchair for mobility.

How has your disability changed your life...for better or worse?: My disability is but a small part of my life. It is just one part that defines who I am. I admit there are times when my disability has both created opportunities and taken opportunities away from me but overall I would not change a thing.
How have you overcome obstacles?: Having a very supportive family and friends has helped me to overcome the obstacles in my life. Early on in life my family and friends taught me that nothing is impossible and that I could get anything I wanted from life with hard work. Yes I've had to fight stereotypes etc. just like everyone else living with a disability but it is those challenges that have made me stronger and into the man I am today.
What is your most embarrassing moment?: My most embarrassing moment is whenever I have had too much to drink in public. This doesn't happen too often, especially now that I am older and wiser and can control my liquor better.
What is your most triumphant moment?:
I would say I have had many triumphs in my lifetime so far. I've graduated from high school and college when no one thought I would be able to. I also am in a career field that many people told me I would never be accepted in.
Of course I've had many triumphs on the athletic field when I was younger that I am extremely proud of.
What are your dreams...for yourself and your peers?:
My dream is to live in a society that accepts me for me....with all of my faults and all of my good qualities. I hope to be looked at for more than just being a person living with a disability.
I hope to continue to develop a successful company that provides me with the financial freedom to be able to take care of my family and continue to enjoy the finer things in life.

I am a very active 34 year old man living back in my hometown where I grew up. I like a variety of things and enjoy events more because of the people I surround myself with rather than the event itself.
Due to my work I travel often and love to travel for both business and pleasure. I enjoy the finer things in life but I also enjoy just kicking back at casual events and spending time with my family and friends.
